Easy Toffee Apples recipe

An easy recipe for making your own toffee apples. Try them rolled in nuts if you prefer them crunchy.

400g caster sugar
350g golden syrup
350ml water
15 apples
Lollypop sticks

1. Grease two or three baking trays. Stem the apples. Poke the lollypop sticks into them securely.

2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the sugar, syrup and water over a medium heat. Heat until the mixture reaches the 'hard crack' stage, 149C to 154C on a sugar thermometer.

3. Remove from the heat.

4. Dip the apples into the mixture and make sure they are fully covered in the toffee.

5. Leave on the greased trays until the toffee is set and cooled.
